Child home care support

If a child under the age of 3 is not in early childhood education, the family can apply for child home care support from Kela. Support can also be received from other siblings in the family who are under school age, if they too do not have a municipal early childhood education place.

Home care support is not available for a child who has a municipal early childhood education place. If the municipal early childhood education center is not terminated, e.g. during the summer vacation, you cannot receive home care support during that period.

Child home care allowance includes:

• Child home care allowance, which is not affected by the family's income
• Child home care supplement, which is affected by the family's combined income

Possible municipal supplement

Notification to Kela of both the start and end of early childhood education belongs to the parents. The head of early childhood care monitors the recipient and payment lists of Kela's child care support (Act on support for home care and private care for children § 24 subsection 1)

In the municipality of Muonio, it is also possible to receive a municipal supplement in connection with home care support.

Municipal supplement is paid 150€ for the youngest child in the family and 50€ for the following children who are not in municipal early childhood education. It is applied for from Kela in connection with home care support.
