Work trial

In a job trial, a person can present his or her choice of occupation and career options or the possibilities of returning from work.

The work trial can be used in the following circumstances:

  •  The person lacks vocational training or is managing a change of field or profession.
  •  The goal is accordingly, Are you interested in a field or profession or is a field or profession already possible.
  •  The person wonders if entrepreneurship would be a suitable career option.
  •  The person has been out of the labor market due to unemployment or child care, and the work trial will find out if his skills are up to date and if he needs this kind of support to get back to work.
  •  The person has been employed in the labor market of his other country, and the conditions for employment in Finland and what kind of services he needs are clarified.

The organizer of the work trial can be:

  •  Company
  •  Private entrepreneur
  •  Community (e.g. municipality or association)
  •  Foundation or government agency institution
  •  Workshop

You can also contact the employer yourself and express your willingness to do a work trial, but please remember that the service may not start until it has been agreed in the employment plan or a plan that replaces it.

The work trial is not an employment relationship, so no salary is paid for this period. During the work trial, you get the same benefits as when you are unemployed. If you have agreed on a work trial in the employment plan or in a plan that replaces it, you can receive the unemployment benefit at an increased rate. Paying the increase part becomes the payer of the unemployment benefit, i.e. the unemployment fund or Kela.

More information about the work trial can be found on the TE-office's website.
